First Africa’s Commercial WiMAX Network to built by ZTE

WiMAX spread out accross the world. Become wider from America,Asia,Europe and recently went to Africa. China’s ZTE has sign contract with Mauritanian’s Chinguitel. It will be the first major commercial WiMAX network across the entire African continent.According to the contract, ZTE will provide core network equipment, wireless access equipment and various communication terminal devices for indoor and outdoor use. Neither ZTE nor Chinguitel have divulged the financials detail of the contract.

WiMAX getting popular day by day. Toshiba , Acer , Asus , Lenovo and Apricot already launched their laptops/netbook enabled-Wimax.Not only laptop, now expanding to Mobile Internet Device (MID). NOKIA N810 WiMAX edition is the first product that comes in my mind that has been a MID with built-in WiMAX module. Here comes the news,October 21,2008 USI announced its MID which was claim as the worlds thinnest MID.The MID-160 adopts a 5-inch 800×480 pixel touch screen with 167,000 colors in a seamless ID design.

Lenovo announced whole range of WiMAX-enabled laptop. Thinkpad X301, T400, SL300 and SL500.The Thinkpad X301 comes with thin and light for fast moving business professional.If you’re normal business or SOHO then Lenovo provides ThinkPad T400, SL300 and SL500. The cheapest Lenovo laptop that will have embedded WiMax is the recently introduced SL500 ThinkPad, which starts at $720.The WiMax chip will add about $60 to the price of a laptop. Lenovo’s ThinkPad X301, T400, SL300 and SL500 will offer embedded WiMax as an option immediately. Later this year, a WiMax option will be expanded to the ThinkPad W500, W700, SL400, X200 and IdeaPad Y530.
