Last post I shared how fun is using Cloud computing on my daily work and this time I will share the wireless presentation from iPad2.

My job is web design.I do have to present my progress work to my client. When I did presentation usually I connected my Macbook Pro to LCD projector or big flat panel display.

Since I had iPad2, I just wonder how to setup wireless presentation from it.I want my presentation on iPad2 appears on LCD projector or big flat panel display.I know it can be done, because I saw Steve Jobs do wireless mirroring from iPad on his presentation.

I check on Google and I found a video in YouTube that wireless mirorring is possible with iOS 5 and additional hardware which is Apple TV.

The Apple TV has only HDMI output not VGA output.Regular LCD projector usually equipped with VGA input. So iOS5 and Apple TV are great solution for home or my own office, but it hardly to setup when I’m at my client’s office.

So I search for another solution to have wireless presentation from iPad2.Then I found a blog that give tutorial about it.

This time I don’t need iOS 5 and Apple TV. All I need is my Macbook Pro connect to LCD projector and send mirroring display from my iPad2. Off course I need same WIFI network on both iPad2 and Macbook Pro.

Definitely it needs jailbroken iPad to create wireless mirroring without Apple TV.Fortunately my iPad2 iOS was 4.33 version.Same version that www.jailbreakme.com alow to do untheter jailbreak.I was amazed how can them jailbreak my iPad 2 with only one slide button. Thanks to Commex and team.

As the blog tutorial, I installed Veency from Cydia on my iPad2 and it’s free. The blog suggested to install open source application named the Chicken of the VNC on my Macbook Pro.

After that I check IP address on my iPad2, type it on the Chicken of the VNC, press connect and press Accept on iPad2… and voila … I have wireless mirroring from my iPad2 to Macbook Pro.I also success to projected the iPad2 screen to LCD monitor trough my Macbook Pro.

I knew it doesn’t run smoothly compare to the wireless mirroring using Apple TV. It lag when I play my keynote presentation. Keynote animation become lagging. But since my presentation mostly for viewing website from Safari browser then it’s enough for me.

Now I can make ‘WOW’ presentation, standing at center of my audience.Pretend as I am Steve Jobs presenting keynote from my iPad2 to LCD projector through my Macbok Pro wirelessly.

On my experience it’s better if I don’t depend on my client WIFI network because so many user on their office. So I always bring my portable WIFI router to create my own hotspot.

I found another application that better than the Chicken of the VNC. You can purchase JollysFastVNC Home in the App store on your Mac.It easier to make full screen and exit the full screen view of my iPad2 using JollysFastVNC Home compare to the Chicken of the VNC.

Sometimes wireless mirroring doesn’t appears exact the same screen. There is many tiny black spot on the mirroring image on the screen.Usually I re-install Veency on my Ipad2 and everything will be ok again.

I started enjoying Cloud Computing since I had iPad 2 on last July. For mobile device such iPad, Cloud Computing become essential. It’s definitely help you more productive.

There are many apps that utilize Cloud Computing. For storage are Dropbox, SugarSync, Uploadingit and Box.But my favorite is Dropbox because so many apps has option to sync the file to Dropbox. It seems Dropbox become standard for Cloud Storage. Also you can join referral programme to increase your Dropbox space by invite your friend to use Dropbox. My account now become 4.5GB from 2GB when I joined. It’s all free.

Another fun app is Evernote. Taking notes at meeting is fun on iPad.During meeting I can take photo and insert to my note.I can even record my meeting conversation directly from Evernote. My client didn’t know the meeting is recorded. On meeting Evernote keep syncing to the Cloud, and later I can carry on to create Minutes of Meeting more detail on my iMac at the office.

Before I use iPad usually I write things to do on my agenda or desk calendar on my table. But now I’m using Wunderlist HD app. It’s very easy to write things to do on my iMac and automatically sync to my iPad and Macbook Pro.It’s paperless, go green !

By the why, I am writing this blog entry on my iPad using Evernote in my bed next to my sleeping son. Since I’m not comfortable using Wordpress mobile on iPad, so I jump to my Macbook Pro and copy paste my Evernote to Wordpress and publish it.

For next I’m thinking to have my own Cloud Storage. It’s better to have the best cloud storage for security reason.

Enjoy a fun Cloud Computing.

Now there are many home users with always-on Internet connections such as DSL and cable modems. In another situation it could be like you’re in a hotel room with your MacBook and your roommate’s got a laptop PC and there’s only one Ethernet jack? If you have an iPhone or other Wi-Fi enabled device ?

What do you do? Get to sharing the internet love, that’s what you do !

Sharing internet connection wirelessly might seem like a much smarter alternative than using an expensive wireless router, but it does have a couple of disadvantages:

If the computer connected to the Internet is shut down, all computers that are part of the ad hoc network lose their Internet access.

To connect to the Internet, one computer always needs a wired network connection.

There is two options sharing the internet wirelessly either from Mac or Windows. Actually three options because I want to shared both from Windows Vista and XP.

To keep it short, here’s what you need to do …

From MacBook

1.In System Preferences, go to Sharing and on the Internet tab, click the source (Built-in Ethernet) and the way the other computer will connect (for wifi, AirPort). Then click the Start button.

This’ll set up a wireless connection between your Mac and the PC, and the PC will be able to surf on it via your wired Mac.

2. If you don’t want settings that might interfere with the sharing, just turns out that “Personal Web Sharing” has to be enabled as well on the Services tab.

3. If you don’t want everyone else in the hallway sucking down your bandwidth, click the “Airport Options” button to set a password on your ad-hoc network, before you hit the start button.

You could do this to your Mac mini also.

From Windows Vista Laptop PC

This following setup in order to connect an iPhone wirelessly.
1. Make sure your laptop has built-in WIFI adapter or your USB/PCMCIA wireless network adapter is enabled.
2. Open the Networks and Sharing Center. Under Tasks (left), choose Manage Wireless Networks.

3. In the Manage Wireless Networks window, click Add.

4. Choose “Create an ad hoc network”. Press Next on the next page.

5. On the next page, enter a Network Name of your choice (as “iPhoneNetwork”). This is the network you’ll connect to from your iPhone. Choose WEP for Security Type (you can also choose “No Authentication (Open)”, but this way anyone in your ad hoc wireless network range can connect to your laptop.) Enter a Security Key as instructed, check “Save this network” and click Next.

6. You should get the “Your iPhoneNetwork is ready to use”. Before pressing Close, click on “Turn on Internet Connection sharing”.

7. Select your Local Area Network internet connection you usually use to connect to the internet and press Next. The next page should say “Internet connection sharing is enabled.” Press Close.

Now, your ad hoc network is ready.

The second step is connecting your iPhone to the “iPhoneNetwork” ad hoc wireless network.
1. From your iPhone, open Settings. Choose Wi-Fi.

2. Click on “iPhoneNetwork” and enter the password you defined earlier (Security Key), then press Join. It take you back to the previous screen but with the “iPhoneNetwork” checked.

3. On your notebook, you should see the “Set Network Location” screen. Choose Home or Work, no big deal.

You should open Safari browser and connect directly to the internet. Connect to Google or something to make sure that everything’s fine. And, yes, it’s a little buggy – you’ll sometimes have to do it over and over again!

Now you can access iTunes store or even download/update your iPhone applications directly without needing to do that on iTunes.

From Windows XP Laptop PC

1. Make sure your laptop has built-in WIFI adapter or your USB/PCMCIA wireless network adapter is enabled.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

3. Under Pick a category, click Network and Internet Connections.

4. Under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Network Connections.

5. Right-click your wireless network connection, and then click Properties.

6. In the Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box, click the Wireless Networks tab.

7. On the Wireless Networks tab, under Preferred networks, click Add.

8. In the Wireless network properties dialog box, on the Association tab, type the name of your ad hoc wireless network in Network name (SSID) box (shown in step 10). For example, you could name your wireless network MyHomeNetwork.

9. Clear the The key is provided for me automatically check box and select the This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network check box.

10. Create a 13-digit password and type it in both the Network key and Confirm network key boxes. For the best security, include letters, numbers, and punctuation. Then click OK.

11.Click OK again to save your changes.

Now, your ad hoc network is ready. The second step is to set up additional computers.

If the computer you want to add to your network does not have built-in wireless network support, install a wireless network adapter.

Windows XP automatically detects the new adapter and notifies you that it found a wireless network.

Now connect your computer to your wireless network

Note: These steps apply only if you’re using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). If you haven’t installed SP2, visit Microsoft Update to install it before connecting to the ad hoc network.

1.Right-click the Wireless Network icon in the lower right corner of your screen, and then click View Available Wireless Networks.

Note: If you run into any problems, consult the documentation that came with your network adapter.

2.The Wireless Network Connection window appears and displays your wireless network listed with the SSID you chose. If you don’t see your network, click Refresh Network List in the upper left corner. Click your network, and then click Connect in the lower right corner.

3. Windows XP prompts you to enter a key. Type your encryption key in both the Network key and Confirm network key boxes, and then click Connect.

Windows XP shows its progress as it connects to your network. After you’re connected, you can close the Wireless Network Connection window.Repeat these three steps on each computer that you want to connect to your ad hoc wireless network.

Now you’re ready to browse the Web wirelessly, from any computer you add to your home network.

Enjoy !

On March 17, Apple unveiled details about iPhone OS 3.0 software and released the new iPhone Software Development Kit for developers.

Fortunately CrunchGear had hands-on experience and here are the reports,
Getting the iPhone OS 3.0 beta was only a slightly better experience than the Windows 7 beta’s first day of existence.

The first thing that caught my eye is that they changed a couple of icons. Otherwise the home screen is the same as it was before. Accessing the search screen feels just right. You swipe the screen to the right and it’s there. You can search contacts, music and mail. Photos and text messages don’t seem to show up for me.

The email screen looks like the same as it was before but if you swipe down you’ll notice the new search bar. If your search has no results in your inbox you can expand your query to your original Gmail account.

Browsing seems a bit faster too; it took about 10 seconds to load crunchgear.com. Maybe they put some of Safari 4’s performance tweaks into the iPhone browser.

The iPhone gets copy/paste! Everyone go crazy!

So this is where I double tap. Now I can choose to select a region specified by me or to select the whole text. The following is pretty self-explanatory.

The undo function works like a charm. Shake to undo and shake again to redo. This is not instant, though, so you don’t have to be afraid that you’ll accidentally undo or redo something if you put the phone down or something.

The Voice Memos app has a sweet built-in decibel meter. After you record your stuff you can share it. I’m not sure if I’ll ever use this application but it’s fun.

The iPhone OS 3.0 is now available for developer testing, and be released to consumers sometime this summer.

You can watch official video from Apple in here.

Recently TechCrunch reported from SXSW where Facebook’s Senior Platform Manager Dave Morin spoke about The Search for a More Social Web.

He said that computers have largely been antisocial – it was only with the advent of the computer that we’ve been playing games with ourselves. Only in the last few years have computers really started to become social.

The introduction of Facebook’s new real-time homepage has offered a big boost to becoming more social. Facebook’s new Pages allows us to follow the actions of our favorite brands and celebrities throughout the day.

Gary Vaynerchuk has taken the stage. Vaynerchuk has begun to produce content on a new public profile, and is also offering some of his thoughts on the switch from a regular profile to his new Page. “I wanted more than 5,000 friends, that’s really what this allows me to do”. Vaynerchuk says that people are talking too much – this new product on Facebook allows people to listen, which is a key part of interaction. “It also saves me around 40 Emails a day of people asking for my friend requests”.

Dave Morin spoke about the new home page, which should now be available for everyone (it has been gradually rolled out to users over the last few days). The new page makes it easier to filter through the items in your stream, which is becoming increasingly necessary. Now your stream is giving you more control than ever.

Now shifting to Facebook Connect. Facebook Connect allows users to make their identities portable. It allows us to see what our friends are up to – he jokes “If your friend does something on the internet and nobody knows about it, did it actually happen?”.

Points out TechCrunch, where comments have become more authentic than ever before because users can log in with real names, which are linked to their Facebook accounts. Also pointing out other Connect-enabled sites like Geni and Joost. Aardvark just launched with Facebook Connect as well.

But Facebook Connect isn’t just about the web. He points out Xobni. Also, working alongside with Apple to seamlessly transfer photos to Facebook from iPhoto.

Loic Le Meur has just taken the stage to announce the first desktop client with Facebook Connect integration – Seesmic. Now available.

In addition Facebook Connect is now on the iPhone, allowing iPhone apps to tap into your social graph for the first time. Users can connect across platforms (You can play a game on the iPhone with a Facebook friend using a browser-based version).

Also there was many games and application that support Facebook Connect lauched that day. You can check the detail list on TechCrunch

In nearly time people in Malaysia and Indonesia can own iPhone 3G from official market channel. The long awaited iPhone 3G will available on Indonesian carrier Telkomsel on March 23, and Maxis will launch it in Malaysia on March 20.

The reliable source also claimed the iPhone 3G will be selling for nearly $800-900 USD and only can be purchased with credit card.

Hopefully this is a no-contract price; that seems like an awfully high price to pay considering Malaysia will be launching the iPhone 3G for free with two-year contract on a high enough rate plan.

In Kuala Lumpur, those who have pre-registered for the iPhone with Maxis will be invited to a special launch event March 20 where they can pick up their iPhone 3Gs.And there will be a launch event on March 21, two days before the official release date in Indonesia.

Welcome iPhone 3G ! Will you beat BlackBerry’s hype in Indonesia ?

Recently we featured Samsung Google Android Phone at Mobile World Congress 2009. At the same venue Vodafone and HTC unveils the 2nd Google Android Phone, the HTC Magic. Here are the apple-to-apple comparison base on their official product page.

Look & Feel
Both the iPhone 3G and the HTC Magic have capacitive touchscreens, the former 3.5-inches and the latter 3.2-inches, both running at 480 x 320. They’re similar in size, too, with the iPhone 3G (4.5 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches) a little longer, wider and thinner than the Magic (4.45 x 2.17 x 0.54 inches). Despite the extra girth, though, the Magic is lighter: 4.18oz versus the iPhone 3G’s 4.7oz.

Screen
The HTC Magic features a 3.2-inch (diagonal) colour TFT touchscreen sporting 320 x 480 resolution. Slightly 0.3-inch bigger is iPhone 3G’s screen has 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display 320×480 resolution.

Camera
One area where we expect the HTC Magic to comprehensively trounce the iPhone 3G is the camera. Apple disappointed many people when they left their second-gen handset’s camera as just 2-megapixels with a fixed-focus lens, and they were right to be so as the picture quality is relatively poor. HTC have given the Magic a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, and while the company might not be as lauded for their optics as, say, Samsung or Nokia, that and the higher resolution should edge it ahead. Autofocus is a necessity for the Magic, really, given that apps such as ShopSavvy rely on being able to clearly recognize
close-up barcodes; we’re disappointed to see no flash, though, not even a basic LED one.

Multimedia
Given that this is a Android device, you’d expect the HTC Magic to handle a wide variety of audio and video out of the box.Audio supported formats AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC-LC, MIDI, OGG.Video supported formats MP4, 3GP.The iPhone 3G handles MP3, AAC, MPEG4.Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels.

Connectivity
Connectivity might be an area where HTC edge out Apple. The iPhone 3G delivers HSDPA, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth, although the only Bluetooth profiles supported are the headset and handsfree. Meanwhile the HTC Magic has 7.2Mbps HSDPA, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0, and there’s much more flexibility in the Bluetooth stack. Apple score a point for having a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, while HTC insist on you using an adapter dongle with their ExtUSB port, however the Magic score a point themselves by having native miniUSB support versus the iPhone 3G’s proprietary connector.

Web Browsing
The iPhone 3G uses the Safari browser while it’s likely that the HTC Magic will use an Android-optimised Webkit browser

Storage
Both handsets can be had with up to 16GB of storage, but they go about it in very different ways. The iPhone 3G is available in 8GB or 16GB sizes, with no way to expand that capacity; meanwhile the Magic has a mere 512MB ROM but a microSD slot – underneath the battery compartment hatch, but not under the battery itself – happy with up to 16GB cards. We don’t know what size card HTC or Vodafone will bundle in the retail packaging – it’s unlikely to be anything as high as either 8GB or 16GB – but for some the flexibility of adding their own memory cards will be worth the extra initial outlay.

Applications
The HTC Magic includes a variety of email options such as Google Mail™, POP3 and IMAP as well as Google Talk™ for instant messaging. It also features the popular Google™ applications, Google Maps™ and Google Search™ as well as favourites like YouTube™. In addition, Android Market allows for quick and easy downloading of games and applications utilising Vodafone’s fast and reliable network.
The iPhone 3G allows a range of Apple-approved third-party applications to run.

Pricing
The stylish new handset is exclusive to Vodafone in the UK, Spain, Germany and France (SFR) and available on a non-exclusive basis in Italy. Customers can ensure that they are the first to receive information about the HTC Magic’s availability, pricing and pre-ordering by registering their interest via their local Vodafone website from today.

Conclusions
The HTC Magic, with its great Android operating system and super-fast Qualcomm® MSM7201a™, 528 MHz processor, looks to have a lot of potential. The announcement of the HTC Magic is an important step for Android and the Open Handset Alliance. Therefore Vodafone is opening up the mobile web for consumers across Europe and giving more third-party developers a platform on which they can build the next wave of killer applications.
