Sharp AQUOS LC-52D65U LCD HDTV:Saving Energy for You

After launched Sharp AQUOS LCD HDTV X Series at CEATEC 2008,we’re never post article about Sharp until now. On November 1, Energy Star will officially launch its revised specification for TVs, version 3.0, which promises to significantly reduce power consumption. After that date, TVs must meet the new spec to carry the Energy Star logo.Recently CNET has reviewed Sharp AQUOS LC-52D65U. They have tested many HDTVs this year that comply with the new standard Energy Star version 3.0,
and the Sharp LC-52D65U is the most efficient TVs of its size, if only by a few watts. The Sharp LC-52D65U delivers better picture without consuming more watts. The significant implementation of Energy Star version 3.0 on LC-52D65U :

  • Remote Control, there is a “power saving” button, located right next to volume button.
  • Power Saving Mode, Sharp provide special Power Saving Mode “Standard”,”Advanced”,”Off”. Choosing Standard power saving mode causes the display to “optimize power consumption based on video content” and, while choosing Advanced also incorporates a room lighting sensor Sharp calls “OPC.” Additionally, you can adjust the sensitivity of OPC and choose to have the TV turn off automatically after a set period of time if it doesn’t sense a signal (15 minutes) and/or you don’t press any buttons on the TV or remote (3 hours).

In CNET testing of default mode versus the Standard power saving modes (Energy Star test procedures dictate turning off room lighting sensors like OPC), the LC-52D65U saved just 10 watts when power saving on. That might explain why we could barely detect a difference between the picture quality in Off versus Power Saving mode.
